Description of the Venue
This is the performance space at the Western Front. It is housed in a Knights of Pythias Lodge Hall - a three storey wooden building that was raised in the outskirts of Mount Pleasant in 1922. The space was purchased by a group of artists in 1973 and since that time has been home to many performative events and other happenings. From January 14th to 17th, 2005, the Vancouver Reverie Crew will inhabit the Grande Luxe and present a number of concerts, web-jams, and streaming events.
Vancouver Crew: Elizabeth Fischer, Anna Friz, Alberto Guedea, Francesca Mizzoni, Michael North (remote from Ottawa), Roberto Paci Dalò, Jean Routhier, Ken Roux, Igor Santizo, Absolute Value of Noise and other collaborators.
Two nights of concerts featuring solo works and collaborations:
Friday, January 14th at 8 pm - $10/$5 - Night 1
Saturday, January 15th at 8 pm - $10/$5 - Night 2.
(If you come to both nights, a two night pass is $15/$10).
Sunday, January 16th from 11 am to 3 pm - free admission - network audio exchanges with Vienna. Jamming between Vancouver and Vienna. Café Wiencouver.
Sunday, January 16th from 3:30 pm to 6 pm - Art's Birthday Bingo Fundraiser.
Monday, January 17th - 5 pm to 7 pm - web-cast at http://aaeol.ca - DREAM : telephone-art and other streams. To celebrate Art's Birthday, sound artists and poets will call-in or stream. An answering machine will relay the calls to the Internet. Participants include the "Vancouver Crew" + Mark Brady [JulezRoomTone] + Georgina Lewis [Weather] + Action Vacuum (Jeffrey Allport, Crys Cole, Lee Hutzulak, Julian Gosper).
Monday, January 17th at 7:30 pm - The Upgrade 2.0 - artist talk and discussion.
