Description of the Venue

Remember that empty house some punks squatted, or that apartment building on the main drag where our friends lived across from the bar, or the top floor apartment down the block, or the auto mechanic's on the corner, or the cute place on the next block where we always wanted to live in with the lions on the bannisters, or the store that was stuffed to the ceiling with shoes that was never open, or the place in the middle of the block where the old portuguese ladies scrubbed the stoop, or that studio, or that bookstore, or that fabled ballroom on the second floor?

Some old buildings burn, some have help to start. The landlord builds condos on the rubble with the insurance money. Everyone has to leave, someone holding their drawer full of taxes, someone else an accordion.

Everyone comes out to watch and worry. So do I.
