Description of the Venue
Late one night, across the street, there was a fire. Three blocks from the Firehall, but the church still burnt to the ground. All that was left was a stone tower and a few pieces of the facade. It took several weeks for the workmen to take down the tower - never sure if it was going to collapse on its own or not as they cracked off piece after piece of stone. Afterwards the bulldozers came in and dragged everything away. Now there is an empty lot - grey chalky pebbles, long grass, mud puddles. Along the fence to the west a yellow-orange squash plant grows, slowly creeping over everything. In the north west corner (where the church garden used to be) foxglove towers from spring to fall. |
