This is a piece I originally created for Radio Papesse - Süden Radio. I imagine this piece to be the soundtrack for a cinematic rendition of Valeri Briusov's "The Republic of the Southern Cross" (written in 1907) - a story about a fictitious and doomed social democracy located at the South Pole. The sound is orchestrated by a generative "radio mixer" that creates an endlessly varying stream for your listening pleasure.

Por el 1.000.051° cumpleaños del arte, llamamos a la “cesación de actividad” y a crear encuentros espontáneos con el fin de festejar el arte como forma liberada de la vida, en oposición a la cultura dominante que mercantiliza el arte.
 
Por eso, ese día boicoteamos todos los espacios físicos o digitales del sistema institucional y mercantil que rigen los modos culturales de creación y de difusión artísticas, como también todos los espacios generadores de atontamiento y aburrimiento -como los museos, las galerías, las escuelas, los lugares de trabajo asalariado, los centros comerciales, etc. ¿Luego? ¡Nos vamos de fiesta!

20hs: Recital de poesía de barricada por los Bio-lentos (poesía al rescate) “Un proyecto actual que engloba a poetas y performers del escenario barcelonés, de forma reiterada u ocasional, según el caso. El propósito principal es el de llevar a la calle la poesía, o presentarla allí donde no se la esperaba (escapar así de un círculo cerrado donde los poetas asisten a actos de poetas). Nos interesa, particularmente, estar en las barricadas, en lugar de sólo en las cómodas retaguardias de los recitales convencionales. Nos proponemos recuperar el respeto de la sociedad (que los artistas han dilapidado, en ocasiones, con tentativas burguesas y mercantiles, como la SGAE). Actuaremos así en barrios, plazas (15 M, FSC, etc.), CSOs, fábricas, colegios, cárceles, etc.”

With live broadcasts from various countries, the Art's Birthday, Euroradio Ars Acustica Special Evening, will be taking place on January 17, from 19:00 until 23:00 (GMT). The Portuguese live broadcast for Art's Birthday will be realized by Antena 2 from the Miso Music Portugal headquarters, between 22:00 and 22:20, with the cellist Filipe Quaresma performing Miguel Azguime's piece "... moment à l'extrêmement", as well as with an interactive performance of sound poetry by the composer.
 
Art’s Birthday Party is a celebration in memory of Robert Filliou, who declared, on 17 January 1963, that Art had been born exactly 1,000,000 years ago when someone dropped a dry sponge into a pail of water. Ten years later he celebrated Art’s 1,000,010th birthday at the Neue Galerie, Aachen.
